Contrasting Adaptation Mechanisms of Golden Camellia Species to Different Soil Habitats Revealed by Nutrient Characteristics

چکیده
Golden Camellia species are highly specific to certain soil environments. Most only native calcareous soils in karst regions, except for a few that grow acidic soils. Our aim is elucidate the adaptation mechanisms of calcareous-soil golden (CSC) and acidic-soil (ASC) habitat through plant–soil nutrient characteristics their relationships. We investigated 30 indices plants. Compared with ASC, CSC had more fertile soil, while plant tissues exhibited stronger Ca, P, Mn weaker K storage, which may be important adapting However, ASC showed higher biological absorption coefficient (BAC) nutrients, contribute relatively barren Both much BAC accumulation Ca than other nutrients. also found concentrations nutrients different varied considerably between species. Correlation analysis revealed 135 significant relationships indices, pH levels being most factors influencing uptake network. This information helps understanding plants

Eco-physiological adaptation of dominant tree species at two contrasting karst habitats in southwestern China
The purpose of this study was to investigate the eco-physiological adaptation of indigenous woody species to their habitats in karst areas of southwestern China. Two contrasting forest habitats were studied: a degraded habitat in Daxiagu and a well-developed habitat in Tianlongshan, and the eco-physiological characteristics of the trees were measured for three growth seasons. Photosynthetic rat...
متن کاملMicrobial Metabolism in Soil at Subzero Temperatures: Adaptation Mechanisms Revealed by Position-Specific 13C Labeling
Although biogeochemical models designed to simulate carbon (C) and nitrogen (N) dynamics in high-latitude ecosystems incorporate extracellular parameters, molecular and biochemical adaptations of microorganisms to freezing remain unclear. This knowledge gap hampers estimations of the C balance and ecosystem feedback in high-latitude regions. To analyze microbial metabolism at subzero temperatur...
متن کاملAdaptation to Marginal Habitats
■ Abstract The ability to adapt to marginal habitats, in which survival and reproduction are initially poor, plays a crucial role in the evolution of ecological niches and species ranges. Adaptation to marginal habitats may be limited by genetic, developmental, and functional constraints, but also by consequences of demographic characteristics of marginal populations. Marginal populations are o...
متن کاملSoil-nutrient availability affected by different biomass-ash applications
This study, through an incubation experiment, evaluates the effect that different biomass ashes exert on the extractability of nutrients and some chemical parameters and dehydrogenase activity of a slightly acid soil. Three types of as were selected: two new ashes generated by the dry combustion of olive cake or by gasification of greenhouse vegetable wastes, and a third produced by wood combus...
متن کاملTemperature adaptation in two bivalve species from different thermal habitats: energetics and remodelling of membrane lipids.
We compared lipid dynamics and the physiological responses of blue mussels Mytilus edulis, a cold-adapted species, and oysters Crassostrea virginica, a warmer-water species, during simulated overwintering and passage to spring conditions. To simulate overwintering, animals were held at 0 degrees C, 4 degrees C and 9 degrees C for 3 months and then gradually brought to and maintained at 20 degre...
